“Gentlemen. It has been a privilege playing with you tonight.” (Titanic, 1997)
Time flies! It’s now 25 years since the movie ‘Titanic’ was first released on 19th December 1997. Praised for its visual effects and performances, one of the standout moments for me was the band playing heroically amongst the chaos.
“Twenty-six years of experience working against him. He figures anything big enough to sink the ship they’re gonna see in time to turn.” (Titanic, 1997)
Even the Harvard Business Review acknowledges that it’s easy for “new products can take on a life of their own within an organization, becoming so hyped that there’s no turning back.”
So if you hit an iceberg, the latest in watertight compartments fails and you don’t have enough life boats, all you can do is look busy ‘rearranging the deck chairs’.
We’re all for embracing the new (don’t get me wrong, I love a gadget)! But when it comes to strategic planning, nothing beats working with clients and getting under the skin of the business, to truly understand their customers, competitors and markets.
The fresh external perspective and work we bring, gives them clarity and confidence, ensures their value proposition is fit for purpose – and most importantly, is able to cut through the noise to deliver impact and results.
